World Of Warcraft. An online game that I began playing in March of 2005.

Friend of mine has been playing World Of Warcraft and tempting me and tempting me. Finally I could not resist the temptation any longer and I picked up a copy last Friday.
Finally, last night, I made level 11. House cats and chickens, beware!
The game is insanely cool. I have played both Everquest and Asheron's Call and neither of the two compare to this. The graphics are stunning. The interface is a hundred times better than EQ.
I don't think I saw the sun this weekend. Well, I did, but it was above the trees near GoldShire...

| World Of Warcraft Item Rant Posted: May 13, 2005, at 11:54 AM Stored Under Topic: GAMING - WOW -GUID- Posted By: Infymus | | |
I have been playing a LOT of WOW these days. Approximately over 300 hours since March 14th.
The rant that I have is the items that drop in the game and the items given to you by fulfilling quests.
You pick up a quest to go into the Scarlet Monestary about level 34, and it asks you to kill three guys. It promises you a 30.0 damage per second one-hand blade. Sounds great! NOT. You get there and quickly realize that the instance is full of level 35 elites. This means that at level 34, you can't possibly face this dungeon alone. A group of FIVE level 34 guys could spend as many as six hours trying to finish this dungeon, dying numerous times. So unless you can find a group of level 40+ guys to help you out, forget it. It aint happening.
Ok, now you're level 40 and you can FINALLY group with some people and clean out the Scarlet Monestary. You turn in the quest and get your 30.0 DPS sword. But wait, now the sword is totally worthless to you because it does roughly 90 damage per swing which is nothing, because you bought a 36.5 sword off the Auction House five levels ago that does 190 to 212 damage per second. And because the sword is Bind On Pickup (you can't drop it, trade it, auction it), it goes into the bit bucket and you get maybe a measly 1g from a vendor IF THAT.
The game is totally this way...
When you can FINALLY finish a quest and get the items given to you by the quest, the shit you get is absolutely worthless. The only way to get better weapons and armors in the game is to buy them off high level users who can't use the items any longer. So level 50+ or 60 go into high level zones and get "CRAP" (which isn't crap to you, but by the time YOU can get there to get those drops yourself, the stuff is CRAP), and they sell that CRAP on AH for which you buy. This is how it goes, the high level people sell to the low level people because the crap you get in quests is... CRAP. You can't sell it on Auction House. You can't drop it. You can't give it away, you just have to sell it to a vendor. WOW did this to prevent item farming like that which happens in EverQuest. People camping the spawns to get that elite item so they can turn around and sell it for either real world cash or in game gold. You NEVER see any item dropped in a quest for sale because it's BOP (bind on pickup). I think WOW should change that because instances are geared to groups making so that camping the boss can't happen. And if it can't happen, then ANYONE can get that item simply by finishing the instance without worrying about a group of level 60's coming through and whacking the boss taking the prize.
It's insanely stupid.
The Deep Mines instance is given at level 16 in Westfall. No level 16 could possibly ever do this dungeon. No group of level 16's could do this dungeon. No group of level 20's could do this dungeon. A group level 25's would have a chance, but it would probably take them 4 to 6 hours to finish it, dying multiple times, re-grouping and pressing onward.
Take for instance, Rhahk'Zor the foreman in the Deep Mines instance. The fat sonofabitch is a level 19 Elite Ogre. When I returned to the dungeon as a LEVEL 40 Paladin and fought him, when I killed him, he had taken 3 quarters of my health down. When I was level 18 when I first faced him, he killed me in a couple of seconds. When I visit the zone Stranglethorn Vale and fight level 44 (at level 42) Gorillas or Basilisks, by the time I kill them I've lost half my health. So really Rhahk'Zor is basically a level 45 even though he's a level 19 Elite.
I can clean out the deadmines now in 1 hour 20 minutes all by myself. The stuff I get? Crap.
And the game does this kind of shit. You will get a drop of a set of Boots. The boots are 80 armor but you have to be level 37 to wear them. No level 37 in their right mind would wear a set of 80 armor boots. It's fricken insane. Instead, you go to AH and you find a good set of boots (say 200+ armor, green with + attributes) and you wear those.
WOW is totally upside down on its drops and quests. I'm not saying make it easy I'm just saying make the rewards a little better and adjust the system to what levels actually can get certain quests.
Yesterday: Had to get 12 bottles of shit from some undead in Stranglevale Thorn. I got the quest at level 38, but because the undead were level 45, a level 38 can't even hit a level 45 ... it's MISS MISS MISS MISS DODGE MISS MISS... So finally I finished that quest yesterday but I was level 43 and even then I died three times trying to get the last guy out.
Engineers and Blacksmiths. A blacksmith can create a key that will unlock locked chests but only a blacksmith can use that key. An engineer will make a helmet that only an engineer can use. I say, WTF? Why can't a blacksmith make a key that ANYONE can use and then sell it? Noooooooooooooo, got to be blacksmith.
That's WOW for you.

| Cancelled My World Of Warcraft Account Posted: May 31, 2005, at 11:01 AM Stored Under Topic: GAMING - WOW -GUID- Posted By: Infymus | | |
This weekend I cancelled my World Of Warcraft account. I gave my gold to a personal friend and walked away. I only reached level 45 in the game, but I had been to all but a few zones.
I was a 300 Alchemist 300 Herbalist level 45 Human Paladin. I found that after spending close to 250 gold on 300 alchemy points that it was totally not worth it. There was nothing that I could make at that level that anyone wanted. In fact, there were a lot of items only a 300 could make that nobody wanted, such as "Detect Demon" for 1 hour. Who the hell wants that? Nobody. I made 10 of them at a cost of 20 gold and ended up dumping them on a vendor. The economy in WOW is totally shot. The lag has become so tremendous that you can actually spend a half hour now trying to get through auction house or even 3 minutes waiting for your mail to come. The lag is getting to the point where it becomes unplayable to travel by boat or go through the city of Iron Forge.
I tried so hard this past weekend to enjoy the game and couldn't. I was utterly bored. There is nothing to do. You might say that I'm only level 45 and there are 15 more levels to go, but I have level 60 friends who tell me the exact same thing. All they have left are epic mounts costing around 1000 gold. And then what? Stand around the bank in IF looking cool in your level 60 epic gear? Comon, that isn't playing.
Thanks Warcraft, it's been fun. I got roughly 350-400 hours out of the game but there is nothing there left to keep me.
I'm moving on.

| Warcraft Why Do You Bore Me So Posted: Feb 8, 2006, at 03:27 AM Stored Under Topic: GAMING - WOW -GUID- Posted By: Infymus | | |
I have begun to tire of Warcraft again.
What is that you say? Yes, I did cancel it at one time, but last year when Everquest II pissed me off so bad - well, Sony did; I re-started my Warcraft account.
When I left Warcraft, I had only two characters, a level 45 Paladin and a level 12 Shaman. Now I have a 49 Paladin, 29 Hunter, 17 Rogue, 17 Warrior, and a Paladin that knows tailoring.
Feh. It's getting old and boring again. My 49 has to go on deep dungeon runs and I hate pickup groups (PUGs).
I am not a PVPer at all, I greatly prefer PVE or PVE-RPG servers. And even that gets boring.
Feh. I want to see the new weather effects they are going to implement into the game and then after I get bored with that I'm going to quit.
As soon as Dungeons and Dragons Online hits the shelves, I'm moving over to that.
Now if they created a game that had large cities - like Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, then put the WOW Engine in that, I'd be so there. I mean think about it, a city, each area has different zones.
Would be interesting.

| Cancelling My World Of Warcraft Account - Again Posted: Feb 12, 2006, at 07:46 AM Stored Under Topic: GAMING - WOW -GUID- Posted By: Infymus | | |
My billilng date was on the 6th, so cancelling will allow me to have playtime until March 6th.
I have just gotten to that point again where I am so utterly bored with the game. There are wait times right now of upwards of 400+ in the queue in weekends, which isn't too bad (about half an hour) - once you get in, you can play for quite a while unless you get booted. What I hate the most is the mail lag. It can take as long as three minutes to get a piece of mail from your mailbox and into your backpack. That drives me nutts.
I am so looking forward to seeing what they have done with Dungeons and Dragons Online - which is supposed to be out by the end of this month.
I should look around at my other games and see what I have to play. I still haven't played Quake 4 yet.
Hmmmm.

| My World Of Warcraft Account Goes On Posted: Mar 11, 2006, at 06:56 AM Stored Under Topic: GAMING - WOW -GUID- Posted By: Infymus | | |
I still have an open account with WOW. The only reason I can give myself right now is that I want to see patch 1.10. With Patch 1.10 comes weather effects. I've been playing WOW for a year now and only now are weather effects coming into the game. Only a few zones at first, but then the rest of the world as time goes on. After I see the zones and the rain, snow, etc, I'm sure that within a couple of weeks I'll be back to being my bored self.
My main character, Tolstoy, has reached level 50 1/2. All of her quests are now yellow or red and require a vast amount of energy to complete. Basically I am forced to group in order to accomplish most of my goals now because the mobs that I have to fight are generally 2 to 5 levels above me. I miss the days of the good old quests in Elwynn Forest and West Fall. Now I soberly travel around the world, bored at every place that I visit. I only have a few zones left, and those zones are 50 and above. I have now officially been to every zone on the map, except for those off limits.
Bored. I've got a level 29 hunter, 20 rogue, 15 paladin (for tailoring), 7 druid, 15 warrior, and a Auction House Bank Mule named Samadhi.
I remember that I was the same way in Ultima Online. In the end I became a wanderer. Just ... Wandering. Wandering from zone to zone, watching players play. It's a lot different in WOW because you can't effect the game and atmosphere as much as you can in Ultima Online. In WOW, nothing affects the game, basically. You can't dress up, can't dye your clothes, can't drop stuff on the ground for other players to pick up.
Who knows when the expansion pack to WOW is going to come out - probably this year sometime. That brings in two new races, one for each side. Not sure if it is going to bring in two new classes or any new classes for that matter. I might re-activate for that and play a bit, but I'd have to buy and install the expansion.
I think as summer approaches and it begins to be warm outside even until the sun goes down, I am going to spend more time with my son and daughter. At least, until they're old enough to start gaming. /smirk
At least I finally picked up that Taran Icebreaker that I wanted.

| I Couldn't Wait. Goodbye Warcraft. Posted: Mar 18, 2006, at 05:26 AM Stored Under Topic: GAMING - WOW -GUID- Posted By: Infymus | | |
Tonite I logged into WOW.
Then I was disconnected.
Tonite I logged into WOW.
Then I sat at the authenticating screen for 25 minutes.
Tonite I logged into WOW.
Then I sat at "retrieving characters from server" screen for what seemed like forever - and was disconnected from the server.
Tonite I logged into WOW.
Tonite I logged into WOW.
Tonite I logged into WOW.
Tonite I logged into WOW.
Tonite I logged into WOW.
Tonite I logged into WOW.
Tonite I logged into WOW.
Tonite I logged into WOW.
Finally I was in to my characters. One by one I logged into each character, sent any gold and any items in my pack to friends.
Then one by one I deleted my characters.
I hesitated a moment over my level 51 and a half Paladin, Tolstoy, and then hit delete and typed the word "DELETE" in and pressed enter.
Tolstoy is gone forever.
I logged out, I deleted the client and cancelled my account.
Now, regardless of weather effects or any other changes, there is no reason to return to Warcraft ever again.
Time to move on.

| World Of Warcraft? Didn't I Cancel You Months Ago? Posted: Jul 29, 2006, at 02:53 AM Stored Under Topic: GAMING - WOW -GUID- Posted By: Infymus | | |
I made mention previously that I had cancelled my World of Warcraft account and deleted all my characters. At that time, yes indeed, I had. But after a couple of months of finding nothing else that compared or to play, I reactivated. That was, oh, a couple months ago.
I now have an array of characters again, and Tolstoy (above) has been reincarnated as a male Dwarf Paladin this time - who by the way, just hit level (40) this afternoon.
Feh!

| Warcraft, Boredom And Cancellation Of Account Posted: Sep 7, 2006, at 07:07 AM Stored Under Topic: GAMING - WOW -GUID- Posted By: Infymus | | |
I cancelled my account with World Of Warcraft even though I had three weeks of time left. My Paladin Tolstoy (re-incarnated as a Male, Dwarf) had reached level 43. My new Female Priest had reached level 24. My Female Gnome Warrior had reached level 33.
And here I was again, bored out of my mind.
Warcraft is boring as hell. Do you know how many times I have done the Alliance quests up to level 50? WAY TOO MANY TIMES. I'm sick of it. Nothing is new, nothing has changed, the game just bores the living hell out of me.
So I cancelled my account again, deleted the game off my hard disk and walked away - yet one more time.
I will return when The Burning Crusade comes out and I can be an Alliance Shaman.
That should give me enough time to desire to come back to Azeroth. No?

Yes I have no World Of Warcraft Account. Played it this weekend on a 92" by 60" screen. The resolution is 1280x720x75. Pretty cool that my chat window is larger than a 21" monitor.

| World Of Warcraft Patch 2.0.1 - Thank You For Nerfing All Of My Characters Posted: Dec 5, 2006, at 05:13 AM Stored Under Topic: GAMING - WOW -GUID- Posted By: Infymus | | |
Blizzard patched WOW to version 2.0.1 on Tuesday. Basically they have changed the entire talent trees for every class and refunded all the talent points back.
None of the mods work anymore so mods such as CTMOD, Benecast, All In One Inventory - that I use a LOT are gone.
Suddenly the talents points that I HAD are NO LONGER AVAILABLE TO ME because I now need TEN GODDAMN LEVELS to get back WHAT I ALREADY HAD.
This is EverQuest Patch Hell all over again.
So they took our talent points away and and made us re-do our talent trees. NICE. Now I have to spend upwards of 8-15 GOLD just to get talents back I ALREADY HAD.
Don't even ask me about my goddamn rogue - he has been nerfed back to the stone age since talents were TAKEN AWAY and he now needs TEN MORE LEVELS to get them back.
My Paladin lost 10 points in HOLY because to get back what he had in RETRIB, he had to spend the extra 10 points there.
I have not, and will not look at my 33 Warrior. I will cry.
I can't even click my 24 Priest.
They changed disenchanting of items to be LEVEL SPECIFIC now, nerfing DE now for all my chars.
Oh My God.
Blizzard, GFY.

| Once Again, Cancelled My World Of Warcraft Account Posted: Dec 7, 2006, at 06:52 AM Stored Under Topic: GAMING - WOW -GUID- Posted By: Infymus | | |
With patch version 2.0 + I decided to take a break from WOW for at least a month or so.
My friend Russ picked up Everquest 2 (oh yes, that dreaded graphically crap-headed engine) and so I thought I'd re-active for a month and play with him.
So I am going off to Everquest 2 for at least a month, even though I know for a fact right now the rendering engine sucks and I wont be able to play in the resolution I want to play in.
Still, it is something else other than that totally farked up WOW as it is right now with patch 2.0.
What the hell is it with gaming companies? They just change things - I mean major stinkin changes and they don't give a damn what the customer thinks. So the gaming company nerfed you back 10 levels - deal with it. I hate that attitude.
And if you bitch on the forums? The Fanbois tell you to piss off and "Can I have ur stuff?".
So fine, Blizzard, you can not get $16 bucks from me for at least another couple months.

| Looks Like It Is A Good Thing I Left World Of Warcraft Posted: Jan 5, 2007, at 04:30 AM Stored Under Topic: GAMING - WOW -GUID- Posted By: Infymus | | |
From my friend Manocter:
So what about casual gamers? Yeah yeah ROFL - Just shut up and read on
Oh I know we don't actually exist in the World according to Blizzard right?
Seems to me that we as a group are the real losers when it comes to the latest Patch, the new PvP and, up next the Burning Crusades.
This is in no way intended to be a rant on my part but real issues that need to be addressed in my opinion.
Players now go to BG and get the highest gear available and then what? They get bored and are out raiding all over the opposite factions lower level areasΰ Oh that's fun? and by the way this is on a "Normal" server. I see that Blizz has been quick to remove the old pvE server designations. To me it's all fine and dandy provided you choose to play on a PVP server other wise forget doing pvE quests on your "Normal" server as the opposite faction is busy killing the NPCΖs you need to turn in or get pvE quests from.
Not only are these players interrupting other players that have NO interest in PVP but they are also doing it in ways that they are immune to being stopped by other players that are willing and able to kill them provided they flag PVP Hunters, Warlocks, and now even Mages are using there pets to kill these NPC's and NOT flag themselves as PVP?
I turned in a ticket on this and was handed the form response letter. Yeah thanks for taking the time to even bother reading my ticket NoTimeForYou.
Anyway I see no end in sight as now the no-lives have nothing better to do than level to 70 and get their 300+ DPS 1 Handed weapons and come back to these same places (protected only by us casual gamers that actually care or the lowly level 40 NPC "protectors"?) Why put level 65's where they aren't needed but not where they are?
As for our 60's that were again nerfed with this latest patch, we lost things we worked hard and even paid 100's of gold to attain only to have them taken away from us, AND then we even were forced to PAY for the pleasure of retraining in things we never wanted only to get SOME of the things we once did have back. IE: Nerf the 60's, buff the mobs, and presto we get to work to 70 to get back MOST of what we had at 60 for how long?
And again the casual gamer is left out in the cold as we can't get gear even close to that of the no-lives so I am on the verge of a cancellation as this is not the game I purchased, it is not even close to what was marketed to me as the World of Warcraft game originally.
I do apologize for the proverbial wall-o-text but at least I waited till the initial shock was over and I thought out my statements before babbling on and on.
It's so much better in EQ2 now.

| World Of Warcraft Is Not Anything Near Everquest 2 Posted: Feb 3, 2007, at 08:30 AM Stored Under Topic: GAMING - WOW -GUID- Posted By: Infymus | | |
Because of the major troubles within Everquest II and not being able to play, I re-activated my WOW account and played for a couple of hours with my friend Russ. I promptly re-cancelled my account giving me 30 days of playtime.
I was not impressed. EverQuest is so much better than WOW in so many regards. The graphics, the gameplay, the saturation level, the detail. All of it was far better than WOW - and I missed playing EQ. WOW is so full of immature children - you have to turn off the chats - and the game is crowded beyond belief.
So while I have cancelled my EQ2 account, I can still play until my paid period is up. I logged into EQ2, and picked Hollan. As soon as it got to the loading screen, I crashed to desktop. I tried again and crashed to desktop.
2/2/2007 3:38 PM Application Error Faulting application everquest2.exe, version 1.0.0.1, faulting module everquest2.exe, version 1.0.0.1, fault address 0x008c2ad1.
2/2/2007 3:34 PM Application Error Faulting application everquest2.exe, version 1.0.0.1, faulting module everquest2.exe, version 1.0.0.1, fault address 0x008c2ad1.
This morning I tried to log into Hollan three times. First time, EQ2 just stopped responding and I had to task-manager close it. Second time, it crashed to desktop. Third time, it crashed to desktop.
I think my days of online gaming are coming to an end.
Today, this Saturday, I am going to be coding all day instead of playing.

Being as it has been cold outside of late, and I, nothing much to do on weekends, decided to purchase and stock into my gaming inventory the Burning Crusade (TBC) from World Of Warcraft. TBC is pretty well done, far more beautiful than Everquest II's plain and unimaginative landscape - void of beauty or elegance.
Here I am, as Morabis, the level 16 Blood Elf.

| What The Crad Posted: Dec 8, 2007, at 05:34 AM Stored Under Topic: GAMING - WOW -GUID- Posted By: Infymus | | |
I've played Everquest II now for almost four months straight. At level 40, Hollan, my Paladin, has nothing but a questlog full of group quests. Barely anything is soloable in there. And because of that, I've gotten bored. I always have to wait for my friends to come on before I can play, and with the move to the new house and all, I decided to shelve it for a little while until I get bored again.
So I picked WOW back up to play for a while. Man, things sure have changed in this game. I've been having fun playing my "other" Hollan - a Rogue.
And what happens when I come back? I get stuck with this guy, "Stinky".
