Last nite at 9pm MST, I logged into the Pacific Server. No lag, no problem. Once in a while I have found, if you are running around and end up in the same spot as another player, you get "blipped" back to your original spot. And then as you try to run, you get blipped back again and again... So I stop, hit the ESC key a bunch of times, wait for the server to catch up to me, and then run off.

I immediately went to the merchant and sold all the bags I had. Since I find them everywhere, the merchant will give me 9gp for each. Within a half an hour, I had 350 gold. Bought a kite shield and headed off towards Yew. As I passed through the mountain pass, I was careful to run through the area first. Since this area is dominated by Player Killers, I was very cautions with anyone I met and often check their noteriety. Everyone seemed friendly. In fact, after killing a troll, the guy that got everything dumped 25 gold on each of us for helping. WOW, that's a refreshing change...

Collected some loot and headed north. Followed the road towards Yew, but took the side road and headed off around the north mountains towards Trinsic. Saw an Orc Guard, and with the help of a couple of strangers, defeated him, got some treasure and kept going. Few minutes later, saw a Troll. Wow! Monsters around!!! Went in to fight, but somebody came on the screen and yelled, "Back off! This monster is MINE" and was totally selfish. Being sane myself, I told him to take a flying leap at a rolling doughnut and ran off. 45 minutes total time, I was in Trinsic (or was it Vesper???). Sold all my goods and came up with 700 gold. Stopped in the Inn and promptly logged out. Tonite? I'll buy a horse and get going.

Good play tonite. Seems to be running a LOT better.

I recently re-subscribed to UO through OSI. And by the way, you do not need to mail in your CD to prove your registration. Simply call their help line.

I started out on Lake Superior. The lag there is bad, no matter which of five ISP's I can use. But I found ways to get around that (ie. no running, adjust modem settings, I also used NetMedic to help).

I choose as my profession a smithy. I took 45 strength, and sacraficed the rest. I also took 50 in Smithy, and 50 in mining, and 0 in Arms Lore. I started my quest in Minoc and proceeded to mine ore. With a 45str, I was able to carry 210lbs of items. Mining was no problem here, within the exception of trying to find ore. Sometimes it was very easy, sometimes it was difficult. Smelting also could be a problem. Sometimes I would make several ingots, othertimes I would loose the whole batch.

No problem. Within 2 hours of work I had nearly 1000gps. I smelted and forged wooden shields (which, by the way, with 53 smithy, I was able to make them of "high durability".) The shopes in Minoc gladly paid me 22 gold for each one. Within 2 hours, I had a great deal of items (all plate except for breast and leggins), and I made a hastey shot for Vesper (I think that's the town below). Making it safely, I opened my bank, and deposited all my belongs. Nearly nude again, I ran back to Minoc and spent another three or four hours mining, smelting, building and selling. Again I ran to Vesper and desposited my loot. Now I have nearly 1500gp and 3 sets of "setups" (in case I get PK'd, killed, snagged, or whatnot...)

Now I went back and worked again. This time, I placed all of my earnings into skills. I brought my magic resistance, parrying, tactics, and macemanship all up to nearly 30 points by buying them. Once I had brought myself up, I was then able to get another set of clothes (this takes many hours of work, at least 4 or 5 days) and I began to adventure out into the land.

Using the ALLNAMES macro has helped me to stay away from the red lettered fellows. By being able to see them off the screen, I can run from them before they get a chance to get me.

Britannia was so lagged, it was nearly impossible to go in there. But I greatly desired a horse, but decided to log out in the inn instead - and try my luck another day.

But between Vesper and Britain (yes, I walked the whole way), I saw two ettins and a harpy. The harpy attacked me, and I was amazed that I did so well. I almost killed it, but do not like my health to go past half way, so I walked away and watched others finish the job.

Now I disconnected my account with UO because I was fed up with the PK problem, server crashes, lags, and a host of other problems. But since I have come back and with version 1.25.15, I must say that I have had an enjoyable time as a Smithy/Warrior. And I look forward to continue my playing. I have also programmed all of my macros and have added my own realism to the game by using "Greetings! I wish to buy!" (and a host of others), rather than the "hi buy" "hi sell" mentality of many other players. Also added to my macro list is a host of questions to ask any particular NPC - and I have found a wealth of information from them.

UO has been a better experience for me now. And while I know that some PK awaits me to make a wrong move, so beait. That is why I have a chest in the bank with reserves should I need it.

So for those of you who are still ranting and raving - your rights are yours. But know that while I have ranted and raved too, I have also been enjoying the game and look forward to more adventures as my character progresses.

Last nite after my App. Smithy finally went out into the world. He's got several sets of "backup" items in the bank + gold and hammers & what not, should I need it.

I headed out from Minoc towards Yew (the north way). Knowing full well that I'd either be killed by monster or more likely player killer (since there are far mor PK's than monsters...)

Well, halfway out of town these two guys were talking. The one was not red in lettering yet, but the other was. I casually walked by and suddenly he yells out to his friend to get back. He runs up to me and lays a hit on me. My player auto-fought back and in just two seconds, I had layed him flat. As I casually lifted all his items off him, he rezzed on the spot and began rambling off quite a few of the best words he knew. By this time, I had cleaned his clock and began to walk off. What does he do? He puts up his dukes and charges me again. This time he hasn't any armor, no weapons and because of auto-attack, I flatten him again. This time, he doesn't get up (I suppose that he ghosted). His friend, meantime, has scooted off in a mad dash to avoid me.

I felt vindicated! Finally!

Alas... Were it a GM mage, I would have been toast. But at least for this one small piece of pie, I got my share!

My friend Herrix and I headed out of Vesper towards Yew by way of the northern country. Since we were playing on LS, we had to walk because the lag is so bad - you can never run. We walked and walked and walked but never saw any monsters. After passing the river bridge we headed towards the mountains to follow them north and west.

As we came around a mountainside, we spotted our first monster in nearly an hour of looking - a beholder. I called to Herrix that we should attack it since I had previously (two weeks ago) killed one myself as a novice swordsman. We both began to slash at the beast.

Suddenly it slapps me with a red magic spell and half my 56 hit points were gone... So I yell out that we'd better run and I spring off... The creature fires a fireball and wham... I'm dead. Then, it slaps Herrix with a fireball and he's dead.

So I say.... What the HELL??? Two more players come upon the scene and start to attack it. Again, it lays waste to both of them. And two more men come - GM swordsmen - come upon us and kill it - but thankfully leave our goods behind.

And I figure... OSI changed the magic scales... Avoid ANYTHING that is magic. Even with a nearly 50 resistance, it took me down in two hits.

And since I had spent four hours gaining my equipment, I decided to try the instant ress. option. As I opened my skill book, I was horrified...

I had lost 8 smithy, 9 mining, 8 resistance, 10 tactics, 7 parrying, 8 macemanship, 3 cooking and 9 parrying and 9 resistance... That's a total of 71 total points that I lost for ress. Plus, all of my items were left with my corpse - and I was of noble nature.

I lost 71 points just because I ressurected!!!!

What the HELL is up with this kind of stuff? Does OSI realize that I spent nearly THREE DAYS of hard work - up to 5 hours a day to mine, smith, build, sell, train, buy, over and over and over till I felt I was strong enough to get out into the world.. And in an hours time, lost at least two days of work. Now I do know that I could have lost more had I walked upon PKs, but still, this is rediculous.

I will NOT venture out again into the wild to fight beasts. It is pointless and once again, I am beginning to find the game pretty pointless. If OSI is going to make us suffer so much (71 damn points!!!) just for trying our hand at fighting in the wild???

Grumble Grumble Grumble... (heh heh)

Herrix, a friend of mine, and myself (Hollan) created new characters on the new Napa Valley Server. We started as Smithy as our profession. Choosing 50 Smithy and 50 Mining, and 0 Arms Lore, we set out. Within three hours we had 1000 gp in the bank, 3 sets of chain/plate backups (4 if you include what we wore), and we headed out into the woods.

The respawn rate was great. We played for 33 hours straight drinking coffee to stay away. During the course of that time, we traveled all of the map, but centered our fighting in the dungeon Shame, and near the mountain pass (by Britain, south of Yew). Plenty of Orcs, plenty of monsters. Shame had way too many Lich's - which by the way, are far too powerful for us puny men. We died from elementals and lichs about 6 times, and I am happy to say that I lost only a total of 25-30 points combined in those 6 deaths.

Only problem? Server crashes. Napa crashed 6 times in 33 hours. Each time it crashed, we lost up to 3 hours of work. The last 4 times it crashed, it crashed once every hour to hour and a half, sending us back to the depths of Shame (once right in the middle of two lichs and a fire elemental, for which we had to die and forget our stuff...)

After the last crash on Sunday night, we gave up. We were too tired to work another hour to build back what we had lost. And when the whole Napa server suddenly went into "Fatigue" mode (where your stamina does not move up, and nothing works except happily running in place...) that took the cake.

Perhaps it is just that Napa is new and the server has to work out the problems. Who knows, but it is really frustrating to loose hours of work time and time again. These problems must be addressed by OSI, and even a simple explanation of what is happening and what they are doing to fix it would be appropriate. In many cases, OSI has "woke up" and started to interact with it's consumers - WE who put food on their table.

As to the Napa server suddenly going into fatigue mode, we attributed it to two things: 1 - a bug left over from the alpha test or 2 - Garriot fell asleep on the keyboard and his head was pressing the "pause/break" key...

Oh well. And by the way, somebody was asking about "black moongates". For anyone who has been in any dungeon, you know that they are there. Black Moongates transfer you between points in the dungeon.

A New Day In Ultima Online

It would seem that the tide of player killers has wained in a way in UO, but not to a great extent. Over the last week of playing in which I've probably put in about 30 hours (this week), I have been player killed 6 times. Each time, I ghost and walk off - rather than loose my stats. Now that I've got 62 str, I've been able to wear plate, and it does rather "suck" to have people loot your plate off you... Even more so when they say, "Good man! He had a whole bag of food!" And when I go into war mode so they can see me - they start saying, "Idiot Hollan..." It kind of peaves me.

But for the most part, what I've found in playing are large groups of "anti-pk" players hunting for red-lettered players. And upon finding them, killing them regardless of them yelling, "Stop! I'm not a player killer!" (Sure, you're just dread lord, or dark lord from accidentally slapping your friends around).

This is a good thing... Many here enjoy PK work. That's fine. I keep about 8000gp in the bank plus several sets of armor just for these occasions. But what I am finding is that it is harder to keep my 8k. It has dwindled down to about 4k now that I have been killed so many times. Reason? The dungeons are heavily guarded by PKS. It is becomming more and more difficult (at most times) to get in and out of dungeons because they are so heavily guarded. And the best place to find treasure and monsters are in the dungeons. Of course, they have the right to be there, and the tide swings both ways, but sometimes it is rediculous. I'm finding that I am starting to spend more time wandering aimlessly for monsters (sometimes not seeing one for several hours) in the land just to avoid being killed in the dungeons. If I do venture into dungeons, I go with a large group, but then again, the # of monsters vs. # of players has about the same affect as wandering the land in search of prey.

And a note on Noteriety (again)... I have not toggled the not...=yes toggle but am afraid that I should have to do so. After working a week on gold to beggers, I finally achieved Honorable status. And then in a second, lost it. I was in a dungeon and saw a spider. I was halfway across the screen, went into war mode, and double clicked it. Instantly it said "You are now known as Hollan." and I lost my noteriety - the damn thing was tame. What the hell? I thought... I didn't even attack it. In fact, I was all the way across the screen from it. This is a real cheap and very poor programming "feature" (should you call it that). At least make it a drop in noteriety if you actually HIT the monster, not just go into war mode and attack it. This same principal exists in town. If you go into war mode, and double click someone across the room (or, are in a shop, and click somebody who is outside the wall) - a guard comes out and slaps you down. Well, I find that really poor taste in programming, but that's life... Always check what you are attacking before you do so - and until most of this is fixed, Noteriety really doesn't mean much anyway - except those who've killed players for fun and become Red.

Another two bits... Before I reached 60str and could wear plate, my AC was about 29. With Plate, it's now about 39. But before 1.25.18 upgrade on Wednesday at 1:45pm (MST), I could attack a harpy and kill it. After 1.25.18 and after I received my new Plate armor (ac. 39), I had to RUN from a harpy who nearly killed me. In fact, ALL monsters have doubled or tripled in strength and stamina. So for newbies just starting out - I can't even imagine what it's like.

Another fine note however, is the fact that I started as Smithy/Miner. I did so to make money. I mined, ored, smelted and made wooden shields that I sold for 22 gp at a time. After I had about 2k in the bank, I bought all my stats up, and then went venturing. Now that I have a 58 Swordsmanship, I noticed that I went from "Novice Miner" to now being "Novice Swordsman". I like that... Not sure if that was always intended, but I must say, that skills are increasing faster now that they were before. In fact, I was able to go from a 42 swords to 58 swords in only 12 to 14 hours of play - MUCH faster than before, where I would play 40+ 60+ hours just to go up 5-10 points.

Well, happy Turkey day everyone. Enjoy !!!

I Am Getting Very Sick Of PK's Guarding All Of The Dungeons

I was in Hyloth playing most of the weekend and the place was void of PKS. But then, I came running out and what is there? Some guy casting firewall at the entrance waiting for people to come out. I can't stand this. I work my ass off in the dungeons killing monsters, picking locks, finding loot, only to come out to these assholes who are only there to kill and loot. They wont take the time to spelunk themselves, they get rich by killing those who work for it. I managed to get away from 6 (six!) PKS this weekend by outrunning them (thank god there was no lag on napa at THAT time...) had one PK chase my butt all over hell trying to paralyze me, but he couldnt' get a lock on me and finally gave up. I am an expert swordsman, but it doesn't mean jack against paralyze and fireball.

I am getting very SICK of PKS guarding all of the dungeons. That is all they do is sit around the dungeons and kill anyone coming in or out. I have watched my bank account dwindle because I have been killed nearly 20 times in the last week from these little twerps who have shit characters with a little bit of mage and a few regents. I started as a miner/smithy, worked the mines, smelted ore, built weapons, sold my stuff, and after weeks and weeks of work - began adventuring, only to find that I can't get into dungeons (ANYWHERE... - been to them all).

The PK problem has not gone down. In fact, it is just as it always has been. But now their new trick is to guard the dungeons (the only REAL source of income in UO).

I am starting to get to the point of: Been there... Done that... Nothing new in UO except PKS. And I thought for a moment... UO is just a game of Player Vs. Player and nothing more... Kill players or be killed by players.

It is just loosing its appeal to me I am sorry to say.

UO Looses A Long Time Player.

Last nite I cancelled my account with UO (again... First time was due to the constant crashes, timewarps, and rampant PKS).

Why?

Most of you seem to get off lucky. I've been killed 26 times in the last four days by PKS. Most of them hiding out outside of towns - guarding road passages, shrines, and good monster hunting grounds. Not only that, no matter what dungeon you go to, PKS have built houses to store their items... They cast fire field on the dungeon entrances, come after you in the dungeons... Harrass you on the roads... Fireball you in the dungeons... Laugh and gloat at what items they got off you when you're dead - and your fucking ghost can't even say a word... And when you sit and spout at them in ghost form, they laugh some more and call you an idiot.

Last nite I was in Hyloth. Just got there by boat with a friend Herrix. Went in, and two mages in full plate came up, fireballed me and my friend, and stole everything we had. And I had had enough. I lost my boat, my 26th set of plate and all my treasure, and enough is enough. I went into window mode, alt-f4'd UO, deleted it off the hard disk, went to ultima registration and deleted my account... After 600+ hours of playing, I have had it. And people laugh and scoff at me that I would be so drastic after being killed... And killed... And killed... And killed. ("Its just a game. Get over it!" is the lamest damn excuse I have EVER heard...) If player killing in this manner doesn't break the UO rule "You may not harass, threaten, embarrass or cause DISTRESS, UNWANTED ATTENTION OR DISCOMFORT TO ANOTHER PLAYER" is total FUCKING BULLSHIT... OSI doesn't give a rats ass about these rules. Being player killed 26 times in 4 days CAUSES DISCOMFORT AND DISTRESS - no matter how much you say "It's just a game! Get over it!" Well, it's not JUST A GAME... I spent 12 hours of REAL TIME building, gathering, selling, working and LOST IT in a matter of moments to some asshole with a bag of regents...

Who gives a damn that I was a Expert Swordsman... I lost everything *again* and *again* and *again* and *again*... Well FUCK THAT... UO is nothing but a player vs. player game and nothing they can do will stop it, except to completely take out player vs. player combat. But even if they do that, I won't be back. There are plenty of new games on the horizon... Plus Quake 2, Tomb Raider 2, and many MANY more... UO has been a "been there, done that..." Been in every dungeon... Been in every town, played every character except cheap-ass-mages... Never been a player killer - always helped newbies (ie. gold, directions, weapons, items, help), and no matter where I turn, some dumbass wants to kill me and take my armor. WTF?! Who gives a damn - it's too frustrating to play anymore.

You spend 12 hours working to get your items. Loose 12 hours in 1 minute to some punk ass player who doesn't want to EARN his living, just wants to rip you off and go about his way. And he can do it - he has paralysis and fireball. Runes you say? Teleportation you say? I never learned that shit - I was a miner/smithy who spent his time mining ore, building weapons, selling, stocking up, and then went adventuring - ONLY to be taken advantage of again and again.

So goodbye UO - SO LONG. Best damn game I have played since Diablo came out, but enough is enough. Yes, I would play longer if PKS were not so rampant, but they are, they are everywhere, they guard every road, every dungeon, every passage. And just when you think you're doing good - wham... They come out of the blue and rob you blind. And you finally rezz and you are naked without shit in your pack. Where do you go to start again? Sure, got 8000gp in the bank... Buy a new set of plate, weapons, etc... Head out again ... WHAM... dead again.

What a crock of shit...

Time to do what I do with all my AOL CD's .. MAKE A FRISBEE!

I've watched everyone respond to my rediculous (and maddening, silly post) about closing my account. And true, I don't own a shotgun (unless I'm playing DOOM, which by the way, if a PK came my way, he'd have a much harder time than casting a few regents...)

People here are pretty funny. "Don't like it, don't play it", and "Good riddance", and "You've been killed 26 times? You must suck!" are pretty lame excuses. Good riddance is pretty sad considering how much I love the game. And "You must suck" and "don't carry around so much stuff" is really lame too... Get killed, go to the bank, get your armor/weapons back on, get some food, head back out, get killed again...

And traveling in groups? I'm sure a lot of people do this, but I don't. Sometimes I do, but it's so uncoordinated. Usually I'm playing in the early morning, or after 1am in the morning - so...

Pretty frustrating game. Perhaps OSI needs to make a shard that doesn't allow a player to kill another player. The Ultima series were bent on honesty, virtue, and the like, but this new game is a PK heaven.

I mean think about it... Create a new char - give him 50 mag, 50 inscript. Go and get your spell book with paralysis and fireball and then head out. Wait for some unsuspecting person - anyone... Doesn't matter if they are new or in plate armor, just paralyze them, then fireball them to death. Quickly loot them and you have everything you need. Do this a few times and you have more loot than you need and soon have 1000+8000 gp. Sure, you're dread, but now people will run from you, or you will get anti-pk'd. No problem, you're less likely to get anti-pk'd than killed by a monster!

Why bother spelunking and earning your way? You can kill a player who's done just that and get everything he had. FAST, EASY, CHEAP.

Well, not here my friend, not here.

With the latest patch, my Master Carpenter fails 50% of the time at making wooden shields. Now, I waste more time making shields than I ever did before and I am seriously bummed out... Now instead of making $2 to $3k per hour, I make $1k or LESS. I have just about had it... I do NOT go into dungeons because my character is not made for that. I make my money for my chars by chopping wood, making shields and selling them. Now, I have to spend 3 hours to comphensate for the amount of wood wasted...

I have just about had it with this game.

Well, since patch 1.25.35, my 76.2 Carpenter now has a harder time making money. Usually by chopping wood, making shields, and walking around with my two pack horses, I COULD make $4k to $4.5k per hour. Now that OSI changed it so you waste wood on making shields, it's now down to $2k or less per hour. Even with my 76.2 Carpentry, I waste a lot of wood, thus causing me to waste more time online trying to make money.

I had a lofty goal to buy a $48k house, but that goal just got several more months out. I figured it would have taken me roughly 25 to 30 hours of playing to obtain a house at the previous rate. That was if I could play that many hours in several weeks. Now, it's double. :(

Sigh.

Triox on Sonoma, a good [but humble] carpenter.

I have a GM swords who has never been good at magic. In fact, he can barely recall, as that he cares not for magic, nor does he use any third party programs. He hunts in places I dare not mention, and never goes to dungeons anymore. He gains no stats, nor finds much loot. Most of the time, he is resigned to walk the streets of britain alone, having an occasional meal in a tavern, even stumbling around drunk to hide his woas. Life has become sullen for him as he cares not to visit the underworld. Alas, soon he will sleep a long sleep and never return to britania.

I was PK'd this weekend as well. I am not a power gamer by any means. Over the last six months, I have gained about 17000 gps on Napa by my lumberjack/carpenter. Generally, I walk Britain, stopping at local pubs to eat, chatting with those I find on the roads et al. On Sat. night I had donned my "wanderer" garb, just a colored-cloak, some sandals and a gnarled staff - and headed for a walk to Yew. Along the way I was pk'd by four reds, who's reply that I had nothing but "junk" was of course, "Damn!". One murder count for each of them. I rezzed at a nearby healer, walked back to get my cloak and was murdered again. After rezzing, again I was murdered. At the next rezz, I said "Hope you like murder counts", to which they replied "We love 'em!". Of course there was one main red who used the most mage-firepower, while the other three seemed like goons hanging out for the kill. I believe that once they come up against a decent blue and cannot recall out, they will be howling about their murder counts.

What puzzled me the most was this... I was killed almost 12 times by these four, yet I was only able to report them for murder twice. Is there some sort of limit as to the number of times you can report someone? I have my uo.cfg set to "assumeplayasghost=yes". Yet each time I died, no murder count screen would come up.

After gathering my items, I continued on my way, minus my staff - which they took.

I noticed several graphical glitches last nite. One in particular was walking along and suddenly pushing a timber wolf out of the way. Problem was, is that the timber wolf was not in the way, it was up to five steps away. I saw this quite a few times.

I also lost connection at least five times. Twice while building up my fencing skill quite near orc mages and trolls. I have a dsl T1 connection and a fast PC, so I was able to reconnect and run like hell before being killed. After a couple close calls (almost dead!) I finally went back to the Counselors guild and pleaded for Counselor Lady Misty Eyed to take me to jail. Alas, she wouldn't. So I bugged her to take me to green acres. Nope. Had to settle for the 6000+ pizzas on the table to eat.

Is There No Revenge For A Ghost?

Back to "haunting" (haunting is when you are killed, you can appear as a ghost and follow who killed you, and even talk ghost to them), the Red PK did ask me several times to "stop following me", and his buddies either asked me to go away, or called me a "Lamer" for haunting him. Is there no revenge for a ghost? Alas. When I told GM-Ghostpig in jail that I was getting sick of UO and the PKS, he directed me to the registration page where "I could cancel my account." I've been playing UO since 3rd week of October, 1997, been PKD many times, as I often play solo and wander Britain. Never been warned and have always been courteous to the GMS. Even made good friends with Counselor Lady Misty Eyed on Sonoma, as we would have very nice chats about the "good ol' days". Ah well.

Thing that made me wonder about the Reds is this: Where can they go? I snooped a red who was on horseback and saw his pack full of items he'd looted. Where is he going to sell them? Trade them to blue-friend mules for cash? He can't enter towns, can't buy a house - and even if he buys a house, the rules for reds and houses makes it really hard. Plus no recall... I tell you, the first couple of days on SP, I saw a LOT of red ghosts wandering around Britain.

Suspended 24hrs For Harrassment

Sunday night I was suspended 24hrs by GM-GhostPig for harrassment of a Red PK. Playing on SP shard, three reds jumped me near the Brigand Camp. Mad that I had lost my four empty backpacks, a couple useless (unsellable) gems and what not, as a ghost, I pressed Tab and spent five minutes walking back and forth thru the first red PK going "OOOOOOOOOOOO" in Ghost Talk.

Suddenly I'm squelched by a GM and can't say anything. This pisses me off so bad, so I page the GM queue and I write:

"THE GM THAT JUST SQUELCHED ME CAN GO FUCK HIMSELF!"

A couple minutes later I found myself in Jail by GhostPig who told me I was being suspended 24hrs for "Harrassment of another player" and conduct unbecomming.

Unbecomming what?

So watch out if you try to get some degree of satisfaction as a Ghost.

DONT.

I do admit I got banned for the words, not the actions :)

Last nite at about 9pm MST, Seer Aria visited the Napa Shard at the Britain Counselors Guild. About 18 counselors were present, including the Shard Lead Counsel, SLC Hellbunny, Ambassador Ryan, and a few others. The place was packed, but the tale went something like this:

(Note that I edited out the farting, the passing of joints, and the occasional streaker who ran across the stage)

Seer Aria: A story?
Seer Aria: Oh my...
Seer Aria: I could tell the tale of a blue dragon...
Seer Aria: With folks yelling...
Seer Aria: I bet they would rather not hear my tale.
Seer Aria: But the stage is taken.
Counselor Uriel: Ladies and gentlemen, if you please, Seer Aria would like to regale us with a tale!
SRC Lady Kehleyr: guys clear the stage
SRC Lady Kehleyr: seer aria is here
Seer Aria: *smiles*
Counselor LadyHawk: *Smiles*
Seer Aria: Hail fair citizens...
Seer Aria: I hear you wish to hear a tale of
Seer Aria: adventure and fun in our lands...
Seer Aria: is this so?
Seer Aria: *hits the podium*
Seer Aria: Anyone awake?
Seer Aria: Hello?
Seer Aria: *grins*
Seer Aria: Ah... much better!
Seer Aria: Whop among the crowd has heard tales of an amazing blude dragon?
Seer Aria: A dragon named Katazar?
Seer Aria: Well sit back and I will tell ye a bit of the tale...
Seer Aria: a time ago a mysterious creature began romaing our lands...
Seer Aria: folks did not know what he wanted
Seer Aria: for he seemed to shunned humans...
Seer Aria: but one day he appeared in a small village
Seer Aria: on the western coast...
Seer Aria: called the Village of Virtue
Seer Aria: he told the folks he was an ancient dragon
Seer Aria: come to see what had been happening
Seer Aria: in the realm since he took to his lair a generation ago.
Seer Aria: Over time he hes been seen more and more often
Seer Aria: by folks from Minoc
Seer Aria: to Vesper
Seer Aria: and all points about...
Seer Aria: even had a conversation with a
Seer Aria: pair of murderers in Buc's Den I hear tell!
Seer Aria: It seems that during his travels he has come to learn a lot
Seer Aria: including a bit about our own Britian resident
Seer Aria: Tarina Faa...
Seer Aria: who lives just down the road a piece.
Seer Aria: During her quest to find him...
Seer Aria: but that is another tale in itself...
Seer Aria: she as, with the help of many residents,
Seer Aria: discovered that a group of
Seer Aria: gargoyles are up to no good...
Seer Aria: There are hints about
Seer Aria: and secrets
Seer Aria: and mysteries to unravel...
Seer Aria: but from what I have been able to discover...
Seer Aria: the target of this plot
Seer Aria: is one beautiful blue dragon.
Seer Aria: How will this tale end?
Tolstoy: With a bad patch?
Seer Aria: I know not for there is still much to be learned
Seer Aria: and many questions to be answered
Rhiannon: The story of Katazar has been very skimpy on the details
Seer Aria: before this tale has an ending.
Seer Aria: I will answer questtions if I can...
Seer Aria: I have learned a wee bit...
Seer Aria: but he knows more of what the gargoyles are up to than I, I fear.
NICOLAE: is tarina's house opened?
Seer Aria: I do not know if she is home this eve.
Seer Aria: She is oft about in the evenings and various times of day I hear.
Seer Aria: Any other questions I can answer for this far crowd?
Istone Scar: Of the gargoyles, who is the leader..or is there one?
Seer Aria: I do not think the leader has been uncovered...
Seer Aria: the gargoyles that have been found
Seer Aria: seem to be scared and avoiding their own kind for some reason.
Talon Windfinder: Tarina knows of the garoyles' plot as well?
Istone Scar: Is there anything special about these gargoyles compared to there brethren
Azhidahaaka: yeah the one at the cove is a spaz
Satans Assasin: mother of god i know where oen is!
Seer Aria: Why is that sir?
Azhidahaaka: mention magic to him
Seer Aria: What does he do?
Azhidahaaka: he fears magic
ASRC Lady Tara: And humans....
Seer Aria: Maybe he has something to fear...
Seer Aria: Who knows...
Satans Assasin: like cheese?
Azhidahaaka: he also mentions
ASRC Lady Tara: He begs humans not to attack.
Seer Aria: the gargoyles have caused trouble here before...
Azhidahaaka: something about the east
Seer Aria: perhaps they plan something more this time.
Seer Aria: *shrugs*
Seer Aria: This story has just begun...
Talon Windfinder: indeed...
SLC Lady Hellbunny: :)
Satans Assasin: u want us to whack them all?
Rhiannon: they seek necromantic reagents
NICOLAE: i saw the draogn near the desert
Seer Aria: and from the activity at Tarina's of late...
NICOLAE: months ago
NICOLAE: hehe
Seer Aria: I think tis far from over.
NICOLAE: tarina;s house?
Satans Assasin: no
Satans Assasin: the quest
Seer Aria: Dragons, gargoyles, assassins, witches...
Satans Assasin: witches
Seer Aria: I do not know about you
Seer Aria: but it does have the sound of an adventure to me.
Seer Aria: But hey...
Seer Aria: what do I know... I am but a lowly seer.
Seer Aria: *winks*
Seer Aria: Did the baker bring any cookies and milk?
Seer Aria: Enjoy the party!
SLC Lady Hellbunny: THANKS
Ambassador Ryan: Thank you for coming Aria
ASRC Lady Tara: Indeed, Thank you Aria!
Seer Aria: My pleasure.
Ambassador Ryan: I'd like to thank all of you for showing up tonight
NICOLAE: where can i find aria
Seer Aria: She lives down the road across the bridge...
Seer Aria: on the way out of Britian.
NICOLAE: but she is not home
Ambassador Ryan: Feel free to hang around as long as you want
Counselor GrayWolf: Listen,
Counselor GrayWolf: For the cry of the wolf in the night.
Seer Aria: She does collect wool and such for her weaving and seeks the dragon herself
Counselor GrayWolf: For he seeks either Kinship or BLOOD
Seer Aria: so she is not always home.
NICOLAE: Where might i find
NICOLAE: the gargoyles?
NICOLAE: ive heard of
NICOLAE: talkin gargoyles
NICOLAE: near covetous
NICOLAE: mines
Seer Aria: There are four that have been found so far
Seer Aria: they are in different places across the realm.

Unless You Are Being Harassed, Don't Use The GM "Harassment" Button

Unless you are being harassed, don't use the GM "Harassment" button. Instead, call a counselor and let them deal with it. This is what Counselor Lady Misty Eyed on Sonoma told me to do.

Case in point: I saw "Slutty Whore" at the bank emoting "*rapes corpse*" - getting sick of this, I paged a GM under the harassment button. GM Clyde responded with a "Thank you!" and Slutty Whore went *POOF!* I later received an email from OSI stating that I had mis-used the paging option and if I continued to do so, I would be either suspended or banned.

So I said fuck that - if Slutty Whore wants to fuck corpses at the bank, who the hell cares! I see 20+ NPC fighters trapped in a house? Who the hell cares!

Well, I thought I would have t2a for Xmas. Silly me, oh how the New Lands danced in my head...

Logged onto OWO.COM to order T2A on the 14th of December, selected "Blue" 2-day (extra $5 bucks). Of course, today is the 20th and I haven't received it yet. Called EA store, they had no reference to me, my zip code or my order reference number. Called OSI, they said to FAX the printed pages to them (I printed out all the confirmation pages just in case this *might* happen). OSI's final word? "We'll get it to you in a week. Sorry."

Um, what about my extra $5 bucks?

And then I go ponder the README.TXT found in my UO directory, where I quote (somewhat)
"Twas the night before Beta,
and all through the code,
not a damn thing was working,
not even God Mode!"
Oie...

Just a moment ago I was standing at the Minoc bank going through some of the junk I had collected while wandering (I am a GM Wanderer). While I was doing so, a guy comes up to me and opens a trade window. In it he puts a red potion and a katana. I clicked the window away because I have no such need of things. He puts it up again, again with a red potion and a katana. So to humor him, I throw a torch in the trade window and click the button. Suddenly he goes red to me and whacks me with his halberd. I say WTF and back off... He comes forward again and whacks me. I LOL at him because all he will get is some boots, a shirt, pants and a comfy hat. Clicking on him, he is grey to me. I yell "Guards!" and no guards cdome. I end up dying and and he is still grey to me. He KOP's away and I head toward the healer.

HOW did he kill me in town? I have NEVER killed anyone. I am not in the thieves guild, so I cannot steal from players. I have never met this player before.

Couldn't be an exploit could it?

Before he KOP'd, he laughed at me and said it was "Too funny!".
