Spencer turned One Years Old yesterday.
Happy Birthday Little Man!
|
You were born two weeks early because your mother's blood pressure was getting too high. Being squeamish, I was not in the room where the cesarean took place. I was told by a beaming mother in law that you cried before you ever left your mother's womb.
Your weight was fine and you ate well. It was so different from your sister Alexis who had so many complications she ended up staying 46 days in an incubator. You stayed with your mother the whole time and she was out of the hospital within two days.
After you came home, you and I had a hard time getting along with each other. I fed you when you didn't notice, but when you were awake, you only wanted to be held by your mother and cried when I held you. As the year progressed, you warmed up to me and now we are best friends.
You are quiet, shy, sweet and loving. You give awesome hugs, love to be held and you are doing your very best to keep up with your sister - who at the moment runs rings around you. You learned your voice when your sister constantly takes things from you, and you are a moving machine on all fours crawling around the house.
I have never seen a child smile so much as you do. We always connect and when we see each other, both of us end up smiling. I have so many mixed emotions about you as you are my son, a male, like me. When I was your age now, I had already been placed in several foster homes and was on my way to a decade of abuse, neglect and starvation.
You are so blessed to have a mother who loves you dearly and a home where you are well provided for. I hope that you will be sheltered from the cruelty of the outside world for many years to come.
I love you Spencer.
- Your Proud Pappa.

Yo, I'll take a six pack bottle o'Milk, pronto moms.
|
Spencer took three steps yesterday and is taking about that many every few hours now. Here he is sitting down taking a break.
|
Spencer is now walking around the house about 80% of the time. He is getting faster and faster. Soon he will be tearing it up.
Way to go little man.
|
Kim has always loved the soft, small necks of her little children. She has lots of pictures of Alexis's neck, and now lots of Spencers. Here is a small picture of Spencer's neck, for you momma.
|
Spencer, Spencer, little man - wants to go outside and play.
I need to catch up with this little man. I only have 983 pictures of him over the last year and 4,421 pictures of Alexis over three years. Wait, no I think I'm doing pretty good so far.
|
Spencer has learned to climb up and sit on chairs. Today he learned that if the chair was close enough to the table, he could also climb up there.
Getting down, well, that is a different issue.
|
Spencer is finally big enough that he doesn't need to eat with his high-chair plate.
Yesterday we pulled him up to the table, gave him a plate and away he went. He was very happy about that.
I love this little man so much, he is growing like a weed.
|
Spencer is growing into a handsome young man.
Here he is, smiling as he usually does.
|
Just like his big sister, wenever daddy has to mow the lawn, Spencer gets out his little mower and helps mow.
Hope than in 10 years he will still feel the same way about mowing the lawns.

Here is Spencer, munching out on a COB.
There is nothing like butter and salt on a COB.
|
This afternoon was the Christmas Party for the entire family. I'll post a few pictures tomorrow night. For now, here is Daddy and Spencer.
It is time to cut that hair of his.
