| Get Out And Vote! Posted: Nov 2, 2004, at 06:36 AM Stored Under Topic: GENERAL NEWS -GUID- Posted By: Infymus | | |
Today is the day. Get out and vote!
For me, living in Utah and voting for a president is meaningless. Since the Mormon Church controls this State, the Mormon Church dictates to its members that they vote Republican. Mormons will tell you the church has never told them who to vote for because the
Church makes it's desires known through other channels to avoid loosing their tax exempt status.
Why do you think that the presidential candidates never come to Utah? Because this is a straight ticket state always-voting Republican.
I hope that John Kerry wins and I will be voting even if my vote here is meaningless.

The SmithysAnvil domain has been down for six months. I put the domain back up and within a couple of weeks, it is getting more hits than all of my other sites combined. What, you want news or something?

| Atari 800 How I Miss You Posted: Feb 16, 2005, at 12:21 PM Stored Under Topic: GENERAL NEWS -GUID- Posted By: Infymus | | |
Back in 1982 after I dumped my TI-994a home computer I picked up an Atari 800. From GIZMODO:
This is how Photochoppers rolled in the olden days: Put hood on Atari; take a screenshot; develop film; paint edits on prints with watercolor; invent scanning device to transfer image into digital 16 color file that spanned 200 floppy discs; upload to BBS over 300 baud modem, giving yourself enough ratio to download ever phreaker howto; bear witness to the first recorded invocation of the term 'ROFL.'
Very cool.
Thanks, Eric.

| Time For A Layout Change Posted: Mar 3, 2005, at 10:02 AM Stored Under Topic: GENERAL NEWS -GUID- Posted By: Infymus | | |
| I change the layout of the site. I think that white for this site was too antispetic. This of course was all done with Caligra Blogging Software, where you can change your themes any time you want.

| Larry H. Miller And "The Delta" - Oops, I Mean - The "Energy Solutions Arena" Posted: Nov 21, 2006, at 05:39 AM Stored Under Topic: GENERAL NEWS -GUID- Posted By: Infymus | | |
Yesterday, Larry H. Miller announced the Delter Center would no longer no longer be called "The Delta Center", and would now be called "The EnergySolutions Arena".
From the Salt Lake Tribune:
Negotiations to keep the Delta Center name on its arena were going nowhere, so the Utah Jazz turned to a company whose owner was much like their own leader, Larry H. Miller.
Like Miller, Steve Creamer was a self-made businessman, proud of his Utah roots, with a history of varied ventures and, as Creamer joked, "we're both bald."
They are now business partners. The Jazz announced Monday that EnergySolutions, Creamer's hazardous-waste-services company, had purchased naming rights to the downtown Salt Lake City arena for an undisclosed price. The 10-year agreement covers signage outside and inside the arena, advertising and hospitality opportunities.
I never really cared for the name "Delta Center". We always called it "The Dental Center", but now, the Energy Solutions Arena?
Who is Energy Solutions? Well, they are a company that disposes of (read: buries) Nuclear Waste in Utah because you can't get RID of Nuclear waste (as that radioactive isotopes have a half-life of 48000 years), you gotta bury it.
Larry has always been about the benjamins.
I think that Pat Bagley summed it up beautifully in his cartoon published today:
