Signed My Two Year Old Daughter Up For A Savings Account At Wells Fargo - She Gets Two Credit Card Applications A Week

Kim and I signed Alexis up at the Wells Fargo Bank for a savings account. There I have a portion of my paycheck deposited and we occasionally deposit more as economics permit. It is the only time that we have used her social security number other than health care reasons.

Now my two year old daughter receives no less than two credit card applications per week with amounts as high as $15,000 dollars.

Of course my daughter has no concept of money or debt and banks such as Wells Fargo make money off our deposited money and by selling our demographics information to their “partners”.

In both July and August the U.S. personal savings rate was negative, meaning consumers spent more than they earned. According to the Commerce Department, July was the lowest monthly savings rate on record. If this continues on this track, it may be the worst year for personal savings since the Great Depression.

Personally I do not own a credit card and will not. If I can't afford it right now, then I can't afford it at all. I have two credit sources, a house and a car - and that's it.

Please Wells Fargo - stop selling my two year old daughter to multi billion dollar corporations.

The Days Go By As My Child Grows Beside Me

It is always rough when you have a new child in the house while you are trying to maintain a two year old. We are very fortunate however that Alexis is so bright and has such a tender heart - she makes teaching and loving her so easy.

She surprises me every day with what she learns. We play games of eyes, nose, mouth, ears, chin, and knees. She tells me “Coke, Me?” when she wants a soda. We play games, we chase, we tickle, and we snuggle under blankets and rub noses. We read books and find the ever-elusive gold bug. We go on walks and hold hands and point at the moon. We watch the choo-choo show. When we watch the Utah Jazz play she says, “Go Go Dazz!”

She touches my heart in every way possible. I am truly humbled by this child who shares my life. Through her I again experience being a child and seeing how amazing the world is.

I love you Alexis Anne.

Did I say that winter was on the decline? No, it's not. We had over a foot of snow last nite.

This little girl has cabin fever:

I'm working from home today because I do not like driving on roads like these:

Alexis and I long for warmth and sunshine.

Look who ran in her room, got herself dressed up and wants to go outside.

Never mind that it's 9pm at nite with six inches of fresh snow on the ground.

Look Who Learned How To Ride Her Tri-Cycle

We gave her this Tri-Cycle last year and she hasn't paid much attention to it. Of course, it sat in the garage considering how cold and snowy it has been. But since the snow has lifted, Alexis decided she wanted to try it out again. Last nite she rode her tri-cycle all by herself around the deck. She giggled and giggled at this new found freedom.

This morning all she wanted to do was get outside and ride her bike and ring the little bell.

Alexis has been on a bubble kick the last couple of weeks. Now that we are in the upper 60's and low 70's, she has been spending all of her time outside, and most of that time blowing bubbles.

She has really gotten quite good - at getting bubble solution all over her.

More power to you little one.

I have always kept my $300 dollar digital camera away from Alexis, mostly because of the cost. I don't want it dropped - and every parent knows that's a pretty good reason to keep a $300 dollar piece of equipment away from 2 1/2 year old. But Lexi is special to me and I have taken pictures of her since her birth with digital cameras. I have exactly (as of this memento) 3,127 digital pictures of my daughter since her birth (taking up 1.21 gig of space). That is a lot of pictures, but with rechargeable batteries (four sets), it is easy to throw in a new set and take 471 pictures (1280x1024x3.0 mega pixel) per 256mb card.

Last nite I taught Alexis how to take pictures with the digital camera. Within three hours of being around the house and then going to the park, Alexis had filled the memory card with 471 pictures. Here are some of the very best pictures she took. I taught her to be very careful not to put her fingers in front of the view screen, and not to ever drop it. She was very very good and she took exactly 471 pictures of everything that was in her sight. Again, here are some of her very best and favorites.

Her favorite porcelain green painted turtle in the back yard. Please note the pink painted piggies.

This is a collection of rocks, shells and agates from the "Big Big Ocean" (the Pacific Northwest Ocean in Oregon) that we have collected. She loves to put them together in a big staineless steel cooker and look at them.

Alexis sitting on the front bench. Notice the "boo-boo" on her ankle.

Her precious Pappa, sitting on the concrete walkway to the park, posing for his sweet daughter.

A very naughty black stink-bug that Pappa keeps telling Lexi to stop messing with.

Momma and Spencer smiling for the professional picture taker.

The wheel that drives the whole jungle gym at the park.

One of the proudest pappas in the world, sitting at the top of the jungle gym with his daughter, sharing a beautiful moment.

I think Alexis is going to grow up to be the best picture taker in the whole world. May her innocence never be broken by the evils of this world. May her love of all the small things be tucked away deep in her heart. I can only hope this.

I love you Alexis Anne, I love you deeply.

Alexis Anne And The Swimming Lessons

Alexis Anne has been taking Swimming lessons.

Here she is learning to let go and jump into the water.

And learning to kick her little feet.

When I was 4 years old I was Red-Cross certified. I had a little card with a red cross on it saying that I had passed all the qualifications of swimming and was certified as a Red-Cross swimmer. I was so proud of that little card. Ever since then I've swam like a fish.

Just another part of Alexis's growing up - time to learn to swim.

Alexis is almost three years old now. One of her favorite things - next to apple juice and cheese - are walks to the park with pappa.

Here we are posing for the camera.

Alexis will be three years old in one month. Here she is pondering the velocity for which candy can be extracted from a wrapper and placed in ones' mouth.

I'm thinking about 10 seconds at this point.
